Introduction to Estill Voice Training

Want to know what Estill Voice Training is all about?

Estill Voice Training is used to teach voice in professional training worldwide, including in many of the top drama schools in the UK. It’s a scientific approach to vocal production which emphasises training the individual structures of the voice in isolation, empowering singers and speakers with tools that lead them to complete creative freedom.

What the workshop includes:

This one-day workshop will be a fun and practical introduction to the Estill Model, where we will explore:

  • concepts of Effort, Power, Source, Filter, Pitch and Attractor States in the context of the Estill Model

  • an anatomical overview of the voice

  • 13 ‘Figures’ for voice control - looking at individual structures in our voice production and how they affect the sounds we make

  • 6 Voice Qualities: Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera and Belt

  • the Estill hand signals to enhance learning

  • Voiceprint Plus, a programme that enables you to ‘see’ and gain visual feedback on your voice

At the end of the day, there’ll be an open coaching session, where you’re welcome to bring a song or spoken piece to work on and receive Estill-based feedback and guidance to apply the learning from the day. Coaching slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

This will be a safe and non-judgmental space for vocal exploration. Individual feedback will also be offered throughout the day, although individual participation isn’t compulsory! Estill Voice Training has no aesthetic bias, and voice users from any background are warmly welcome.

Who is this workshop for?

This whole-day, in-person interactive workshop will be a wonderful opportunity to discover how transformative and empowering Estill can be, and could be ideal for:

  • Those interested in finding out more about Estill before committing to a full 5-day course

  • Singers and singing teachers

  • Actors

  • Choir leaders

  • School music teachers

  • Musical Directors

  • Anyone who uses their voice in a professional capacity

Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance from Estill Voice International which can be used as evidence of CPD.

…you were so informative but also engaging and I enjoyed every minute. I think more people should learn about Estill, the knowledge is empowering. I feel a lot more confident in my voice and knowledgeable now, I think it will make the biggest difference to my teaching and personal singing.
