Introduction

I, Laura Boon, operate as a sole trader under the trading name ‘Laura Boon Voice’ providing singing tuition and related voice coaching activities. My registered address is available on request, and my website addresses are lauraboonvoice.co.uk and lauraboon.co.uk. 

About this policy

Your privacy is very important to me. The purpose of this policy is to explain to you how I control, process, handle and protect your personal information while you browse or use this website. If you do not agree to the following policy you may wish to cease viewing/using this website, and/or refrain from submitting your personal data to me. I encourage the users of this website to read this policy carefully and contact me with any questions or concerns about my privacy practices. 

What data is collected and how is it used? 

I only hold the data needed to offer you the services you engage me to provide. 

I collect your personal data through the use of an online form - your name, email address and phone number if provided. I also retain contact details through enquiries I receive via email and telephone, and through social media engagement. My booking system Acuity Scheduling also collects your personal data in order to provide their service and you are encouraged to review their privacy policy separately and contact them directly for responses to any questions you may have about their use of this data. Contact information I  hold is used for scheduling, invoicing, record keeping and communicating my services with you. I also hold information about your music education, e.g. progress, objectives, exam results. 


Any information I collect on your health and medical background is in order to teach singing technique and spoken voice safely without compromising your health. 


Some information will be shared with examination boards if you wish to enter for exams. Dates of birth, which are needed for exam entries are deleted once the entry has been made. No other data will be shared with any third parties unless there is a legal obligation to do so. 


My website is hosted by Squarespace and they collect and store “cookies”. These help to collect general information about the behaviour of visitors on the site. Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies. You may decline, disable or delete cookies whilst visiting this website, but this may affect the usability of the site. 


Financial information, such as data related to your payment method (e.g. valid credit card number, card brand, expiration date) is collected when you book a lesson, and is stored by the payment processor, Stripe, and you are encouraged to review their privacy policy and contact them directly for responses to any questions you may have about their use of this data. 


I will not use your data in any way that is irrelevant, unreasonable or intrusive. If, at any point, you feel that an invasion of your privacy has occurred it is your right to let me know, and also to register your complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office - www.ico.org.uk. 


All reasonable steps are taken to ensure your data is processed and kept securely both in digital and paper form. 

How long will data be retained? 

Your data is stored for as long as you are a student with Laura Boon and will be deleted once tuition discontinues. 

What are your rights regarding your information? 

You have the right to ask for a copy of any or all of the information I hold about you at any point. You also have a right to:

  • request that inaccuracies are corrected

  • request that I stop processing your personal data

  • lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office

  • have your data erased.

If you believe your data rights or security have been breached, please contact me immediately.
